Activities and Water Sports at Golden Sands
Maybe your idea of a perfect holiday at Golden Sands is to relax on the soft sand, dabble your feet in the warm
sea water and sunbathe. A relaxing holiday like that can be absolute bliss - especially as you have probably
been working extremely hard during the rest of the year! But maybe you want your holiday to be full of action.
At Golden Sands, Bulgaria, it's your choice. If you need an adrenaline rush to keep you happy there are plenty
of opportunities here.
Sports Activities and Games at Golden Sands, Bulgaria
There are plenty of beach-based activities at Golden Sands, including water sports such as jet-skis,
banana boats, wind-surfing, water skiing, yachting, para-sailing and, of course, swimming. On the sands you can
join-in with a volleyball games, play tennis, enjoy a relaxing massage and - if you have a bucket and spade - have a
competition to see who can build the best sand castle. There is virtually no tide at Golden Sands, so your lovely
creation won't get washed away by the sea.
If a pony ride along the beach isn't enough, you might want to join in an "Equestrian Picnic". Take a pone or horse
ride through the forest and enjoy a picnic lunch in one of the most beautiful areas of parkland in Bulgaria. The
horse riding centre is situated on the hillside, approximately 10 minutes' walk from the entrance to the main resort.
The path to the Equestrian Picnic is clearly signposted from the main road from Golden Sands towards Varna.
If you don't want to get any more sand in your shoes, but you are still desperate to splash in the water, make your
way to the Aquapolis aqua park, next to the Hotel Amphora Palace. There's lots of fun to be had and no sand to walk
across to get there!
Quad Biking at Golden Sands
If you prefer your off-road fun on wheels, take a trip to the Off-Road Adventure centre at Chiflika Chukurovo,
high in the hillside overlooking Golden Sands and Albena. You can choose between a quad bike or a jeep and head out
into the forest for some wild and wacky fun. After you've had your fill of adrenaline, you can fill your stomach in
the restaurant at the ethnographic centre at Chiflika Chukurovo. Prince Charles was impressed when he visited Chiflika
Chukurovo, so why shouldn't you be?
Go Karting at Golden Sands
The Go Kart track is situated at the northern end of Golden Sands beach, near the yacht port and the crazy golf. There
is also a larger Go Kart track on the outskirts of Varna city, just off the main road from Golden Sands to Varna city
centre, on the road to Vinitsa. This well-established and karting track is the largest in Bulgaria and has 200cc and
270cc karts. It was given the "Most Progressive Sport" award in Varna municipality. The track is open from 10:00 to
24:00. Prices are from 2.50 BGN for one lap or 20.00 BGN for 10 minutes. Children under 14 have reduced prices.

If you prefer to go it alone, you can hire a car and visit some of the nearby towns and resorts. See our suggestions for
Places to Visit from Golden Sands. You can
also take the "Hop On, Hop Off" bus that operates regularly throughout the day. Hop on the bus at Golden Sands, and then
hop off in various parts of Varna to do some shopping and exploring. The service operates double-decker buses (using
original British buses) and you can buy 24hr ticket for 19 BGN.
Golden Sands Yacht Port
At the northern end of Golden Sands resort there is a yacht port. You can hire a yacht and spend a day travelling around
the coast in luxury. You can even take a trip in a "Pirate Ship" (complete with a captain and crew). The Water Sports Centre
offers jet-skis, banana boats, and para-sailing.
Even if your legs go rubbery at sea, there are still things to occupy you at the yacht port. In addition to the go kart track,
there is a crazy golf course, bungee bouncing and a mini amphitheatre. What's more, you don't even have to walk down to the
port. A mini train travels along the promenade between the centre of the resort (by the entrance to Hotel Admiral) and the
yacht port. 4 BGN each way saves your feet from getting tired and gives you a chance to tour the resort in comfort.
Between the yacht port and the resort centre (in front of the Zlatna Kotka Hotel) is a paint-ball course. It might not be
the largest one in the world, but it's kitted out with lots of places to hide while you get your friends in your sights. Bear
in mind though - some of those paint-balls can certainly sting a little!
